Loft Shop 2010

It is May in Garrett County and time to set up The Loft Shop for the 2010 season.  This is the 24th year that we have opened The Loft Shop in beautiful downtown Bittinger, Maryland, 8 miles from Deep Creek Lake.  We are changing our schedule a bit for the 2010 season.   We officially open the last weekend in June but should we get a call or a car come down the lane, we are open for business.   This season we will be open most of the month of July, by appointment or "chance" in August.   We are going to be at Art in the Park, Art and Wine and Heritage Craft Festival at Broad Ford School during Autumn Glory.   We will also be open for the Garrett County Arts Council Studio Tours the last weekend of July and the Allegany Arts Council Studio Tours Nov. 6,7,10,11.  We love doing this business and are excited to see old friends and meet new people

The walls of the Gallery at the Garrett County Arts Council have been re-hung.   The 2D artwork is totally changed out 3 times a year.   A wonderful group of volunteers gave their time and energy to the task.
Hopefully I will remember to take photos of the Gallery tomorrow to put on this blog.
Above are the pieces I put in the Gallery.

What a workshop!!!  Bob Yonke is known as The Bluegrass Painter.  His technique is very loose and wet.
The student work was really terrific.   Check out these pieces.

Bob Yonke workshop

Bob Yonke and one of his bluegrass paintings.

There is nothing I love more than being in a workshop with a group of watercolor painters.  This week we are at the Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park taking a workshop from Bob Yonke.
Bob lives in Pittsburgh PA and at Deep Creek Lake and is a terrific painter.   You can see his work on his website www.appalachainstudio.com .  There are 13 students sopping up every tidbit that Bob hands out to us.
This is just one of several workshops being offered this year by the Garrett County Arts Council.   For more information regarding future workshops go to the website of GCAC.
