February in the Studio
The snow is receding in Garrett County. Our daily weather is unpredictable therefore affording me some good studio time. Yesterday was one of those days that it just seemed to "work" in the studio. I had a wonderful time working on mono prints, These are mono prints taken from a plate of gelatin using water soluble oils.

Garrett County Arts Council Student Show
The Elementary Student Show has been put up in the Backroom of the Gallery at the Garrett County Arts Council at 206 E. Alder Street. Thanks to Pam Snyder's hanging talents, the show is terrific. If you want to have a cheery, happy experience, go see this show. It is absolutely delightful and fun. Steve Schlosnagle (the executive director of the GCAC for 15 years) used to say that this was his favorite show and he would love this one. Remember. . . . these pieces have been created by elementary school students.
Aren't they fun?

Ink and Watercolor
Winter in Garrett County gives me plenty of opportunity to play around and try to learn new stuff.
My friend Eric Smith is a master at doing small ink drawings and watercolor. I have never gotten the hang of it but decided to give it a try and not quit in frustration.
I took a postcard size block to Tortola to do ink sketches with watercolor. I had taken 3 primary colors, two brushes and the little block. It was great fun playing with my toys. I have continued to work on this project in my studio.

Dreaming of the Tropics
The day we returned from Tortola was the day of Blizzard VI of 2011. Snow covered the state and was really pretty. . . .. however, it was snow which is wet and cold, NOT warm and blue. One week later, I have longing for the tropics and warm.
