Tortola, BVI

The Arnsons, of Bittinger Maryland, spent a week on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.   It was a wonderful week of reading, beaching, napping, etc.    I actually did a little painting and a lot of drawing, which is not what I usually do on vacation.   Tortola is a wonderfully quiet, beautiful island.   It is a 50 minute ferry ride from St Thomas in the USVI.
We returned to LOTS of snow and white.

We visited "The Baths" on the island of Virgin Gorda.  It was a "wow" experience.

Sunset from our resort which is named
 "Fort Recovery".

watercolor monoprints

It is snowing in Garrett County Maryland and so I retreat to my studio.   One of my goals for the winter is to learn how to make monoprints with watercolors.   If I can figure that out and produce some good stuff (that is the BIG question) then I can enter a monoprint in the Western Maryland Watercolor Society show in June.
That is my ultimate goal.   But first, I have to figure out the technique.    Here are a couple of samples of my first attempts.

Both of these are 4"x6" watercolor monoprints, taken off a plexiglass.
I sure have had a fun afternoon playing with this technique.
